In the opening chapter of his best-selling book The Road Less Travelled, author Scott Peck states: “Life is difficult.” You bet it is. The journey of life is not only difficult but it is also unpredictable. It is this unpredictability that makes life beautiful. Life throws our way happy and difficult moments. Every human being is unique in its own way, and as such, every human being has the capacity to define and enjoy happiness and achievement in different ways.

You can feel happy when you make new friends, start your first day at school, fall in love for the first time, graduate, find a good job, get married, win the lottery or even happier when a loved one recovers from an illness or when you lead another soul to Christ. I could go on forever. For me, a happy moment was when I miraculously ‘bumped into’ a joyful servant of the Lord, in Toronto a few years back. I was going through some rough patches, when God put this person in my path. He would later become a friend and the pastor of a community of Albanian believers. This was another unexpected blessing for me, one of the many blessings that God has bestowed on me out of his unconditional love and care. I believe there are no coincidences in this life, only divine coincidences. The Lord brings people across your path for a reason. Meeting this servant of God and meditating on the truths of the Word of God together, has significantly added to my understanding of the Bible.

It’s always a blessing when two servants of God meet. I am now part of a community of believers who have come together to worship the Lord. God had put this idea into my friend’s heart, and that’s how this community came to be. It gives me immense happiness to see that the members of this community have a true heart for God. They truly love the Lord. They worship Him with all their hearts. Being part of this group of believers has refreshed my soul. I’ve come to realize how important is for a Christian to be among his brothers in Christ, to meditate daily on the Word of God, and pray and worship with a grateful heart. I’ve also come to realize how important is for a believer in Christ to be among those who are seeking the Lord but still don’t know Him.

Moments like these help us grow in our relationship with our heavenly Father. As believers, we should welcome every day as a blessing from the Lord. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him (Jeremiah 17:7), because everything He does, He does to prosper us and give as a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Come, you who are blessed by my Father (Mat 25:34). When you are blessed by God you will certainly be a blessing to others. A blessed servant’s duty is to become a blessing to other people. His duty is to be light and salt (Matt 5:13-16).

When I read the Word of God, I am always filled with a sense of awe and peace, because I can clearly discern the hand of Divine Providence in action. It is written: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you,” says the Lord (Prov 32:8)

That means God has a special plan for each one of us. Our heavenly Father is awesome. Just imagine how David must have felt when Samuel anointed him king of Israel. And another thing that amazes me in this story, the way I see and understand it, is that almost no one knew about the close relationship that David had with the Lord. Nobody was even aware of it until the day David defeated Goliath. Everyone has plans for their lives. But God has also His own plans for us. And His plans are always better than ours.

So when the road gets increasingly bumpy, and it does, do not waver but remember Peter. He had his own doubts, questions, and temptations. In the end, however, his strong statement shows where he stands: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)

Yes, life is difficult. But the man who walks with God will always get to his destination.

Therefore I pray:

 Heavenly Father,

Thank you for always being with me.

You go before me making crooked places straight

You fill me with divine wisdom and understanding

You guide me in the paths of righteousness

You renew my mind and restore my soul

You make my heart pure

And You renew a steadfast spirit within me

I am cleansed through the Holy blood of Your Son

I am healed by His stripes.

 

My heart overflows with praise and gratitude

For all of Your goodness

And for the supernatural favor You have blessed me with

Because You have blessed me

I have become a blessing to others.

 

I trust in You with all my heart

And I do not lean on my own understanding

In all my ways I acknowledge You

And You direct my paths.

 

My soul finds rest in You, Heavenly Father

You alone are my rock and my salvation

You are my fortress

You instruct me and teach me in the way I should go

You counsel me and watch over me

You enlighten me as I meditate on Your Holy Word.

 

By faith I’m well able. I am anointed.

I’m equipped for every good work You have planned for me.

I am empowered because my thoughts are guided by Your Word.

I dwell in Your presence every day

I am victorious because You fight my battles.

 

Those who trust in You are like Mount Zion,

which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

Those who trust in You are like trees planted by streams of water,

which yield their fruits in season and whose leaves do not wither.

Whatever they do prospers.

 

I will give thanks to You and will sing praise to Your name forever and ever

Blessed is the man who trusts in You.
